Former ESPN Executive and Nonprofit Leader
Jessamy Tang, former executive with the ESPN network, possesses extensive experience in business strategy and development. As president and CEO of two Boston area ESPN-affiliated radio stations, WAMG 890 AM and WLLH 1400 AM, she established the first ESPN radio station in the market and significantly improved the bottom line over the course of a three-year tenure. During this time, Jessamy Tang secured partnerships for the ESPN-affiliated stations with key Massachusetts sports and media organizations, including the New England Patriots and the Metro Boston newspaper, which raised more than $200,000 in annual income and decreased publicity spending.
In addition, Ms. Tang created a comprehensive operating strategy for these stations that addressed sales and marketing as well as programming. By the end of her tenure, 890 AM and 1400 AM had achieved a high power ratio based on sales vs. ratings in the local market. She left radio in 2009 when her first child was born with Down syndrome. She began to promote awareness of and research into the condition, and since that time she has organized a number of fundraising events. Currently a board member with Down Syndrome International (DSi), she chaired the organizing committee for the most recent World Down Syndrome Day Conference conference held at United Nations Headquarters.
